Admitting that “some mistakes” had taken place during the previous Congress rule at the Centre, former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram exhorted the public and the Congress cadre to raise questions against the Centre as it had miserably failed to implement any scheme for the development of the nation.

Addressing a public meeting organised here on Saturday night as part of the birth centenary celebrations of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr. Chidambaram said “some mistakes” had indeed taken place during the 10-year-long previous Congress rule at the Centre, which also did a lot for the welfare of the people. However, the people, who voted in favour of the BJP for a “change”, should question the present rulers as the BJP-led government at the Centre had miserably failed to fulfil the electoral promises, especially on weeding out black money and counterfeit currency.

“Could (Prime Minister) Modi deposit ₹15 lakh in every Indian’s account by bringing back to the country the black money stashed in foreign banks,” he asked.
