A Narikurava girl is playing the lead role in the film, ‘Madurai Vidinja Pochu.’ Apart from the heroine S. Nivetha, three Narikurava youngsters are cast in important roles.
While V. Vinodini is playing the second heroine, P. Prabhu is the second hero and P. Arjun is cast in a supporting role. A few more Narikuravas, all residents of the Devarayaneri Narikurava Colony, about 20 km from Tiruchi city, are doing small roles.
The shooting of the film, directed by V. P. Senthilkumar, who had served as assistant director under director V. Sekar, has been in progress in Narikurava Colony for the past one month. The location of the colony is sure to provide the needed ambience.
The story revolves around the heroine, who takes revenge on those who were involved in the murder of her lover.
The movie is based on an incident that happened in Madurai.
‘A different perspective’
“We attempt to project love from a different perspective,” Senthilkumar says, justifying the title.
Nivetha is quite comfortable acting and dancing. “I don’t find any difficulty and I have been a good dancer from a very young age,” she says.
Celebration time
It is celebration time at the Devarayaneri Colony on the Tiruchi–Thanjavur national highway, housing about 300 Narikurava families.
The residents are witnessing a film shooting for the first time. And the presence of four youngsters from the colony in the lead roles has brought them much delight.
The major part of the film was shot at Tirupur, Paramakudi and Madurai.
Only 20 per cent of the film remains to be shot, says Senthilkumar, who is also in-charge of story, screenplay and lyrics. He is hopeful of releasing the film by Pongal.
