While there is clearly no bonanza for Tamil Nadu in the Railway Budget for 2012-13 presented by Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi in Parliament on Wednesday, the proposals for 14 trains across categories, including eight express trains, extension of nine trains, 18 additional suburban services for Chennai and four railway electrification projects should provide some cheer for the State's rail users.
The new services for the State are the Coimbatore-Bikaner AC Express (Weekly) via Roha, Vasai Road, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur; Chennai-Bangalore AC double-decker Express (daily); Tiruchi-Tirunelveli Intercity Express (daily) via Madurai, Virudunagar; Visakhapatnam-Chennai Express (weekly); Kacheguda-Madurai Express (weekly) via Dharmavaram, Pakala, Jolarpettai; Mannargudi – Tirupati Express (tri-weekly) via Thiruvarur, Villupuram, Katpadi; Chennai-Puri Express (weekly); and Asansol - Chennai Express (weekly) via Purulia, Sambalpur,Vizianagaram.

hosur-bangalore-chennai huge industrial corridor for it,auto, medicine etc.but railways yet to connect hosur to jolarpettai inorder to have rail link between hosur chennai and must add few more push-pull trains from bangalore city terminal during peak hours.
Its so irresponsible for Railway ministry to keep neglecting Bangalore CRS (commuter connectivity to neelamangala, new airport, hosur) and also the railway connection for Krishnagiri to Electronic city (which is always kept out for some wrong reasons). Each day, crowds in these routes are overflowing in all mode of transport, only traffic and road accidents are commonly heard stories. Not sure when the dawn will come for these routes in terms of rail connectivity.
In the above trains extension it has mentioned tirunalveli trian via erode dharmapuri this train starts from that as not mentioned pls mension the the starting point of this train
It' a totally disappointing one for western TN People; Though two trains
are introduced via Konkan route, these cater mainly to North Kerala
only. Though several struggles had been organized, Railways had not
bothered to route via Coimbatore atleast half of 13 trains which
presently skip Coimbatore junction. Inter city connectivity of TN is
presently pathetic. There might be two reasons for continued neglect of
Western region: Omni owners and Kerala Lobby of SR. Only God can save
TN.
