Stating that the City Municipal Corporation’s poor solid waste management policy led to degradation of nature in the city, members of Salem Citizens Forum distributed pamphlets to the people calling for protection of the environment.
The forum convener, Piyush Sethia, said that the private solid waste management company that functioned at Chettichavadi had degraded the environment leading to pollution of groundwater, and air.
The pamphlets said that the forum has renovated the Kannankurichi Lake, Kumaragiri Lake, and tank in Arisipalayam.
People should help the forum renovate other lakes.
