Solatium given

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has granted a solatium of Rs.1 lakh to the family of a rubber estate worker who was killed by lightning in Kanniyakumari district.

An official release said Russel Raj was killed by lightning while he was working on a rainy night at a private rubber estate in Kalkulam block of Kanyakumari district. Another worker, Chinna Nadar, was injured. The incident was brought to the Chief Minister's notice by Thiruvattaru MLA R. Leema Rose. Mr. Karunanidhi ordered a solatium of Rs.1 lakh to Pushpalatha, wife of Russel Raj, and Rs.2,500 to Chinna Nadar.
