Six-day Army recruitment rally to be held at Ulundurpet from November 9

An Army recruitment rally will be held on Pali Special Police Force Grounds at Ulundurpet near here from November 9 to 14.

Around 1,000 candidates will be selected for six categories of services in the Army, according to Collector R. Palanisamy. He reviewed the arrangements to be made for the rally, with Colonel Tushar S. Bhakay, Major R.J. Kamath and Sub-Major Khudanoor of the Army Recruitment, Chennai Directorate, and other officials here on Friday.

Later, Mr. Palanisamy told reporters that candidates hailing from Villupuram, Vellore, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore and Chennai districts and Puducherry would be selected. The selection would be made for various postings in the Army such as soldier technical, nursing assistants, soldier general, soldier tradesmen, soldier clerk and storekeepers.

The educational qualification would range from VIII Class to Plus-Two. Even graduates in certain disciplines could participate. For the soldier general, the age should be from 17 years and six months to 21 years (those born between November 10, 1989 and May 8, 1993). For all other cadres, it must be from 17 years and six months to 23 years (those born between November 10, 1987 and May 8, 1993)

Elaborate security arrangements would be made at the venue. Barricades would be erected to regulate the flow of candidates. The transport corporation would operate special bus services from Ulundurpet to the rally grounds on all the six days. Certificates and other documents of the candidates would be verified by 40 officials drawn from the Revenue and the Education Departments.
