Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has called for deterrent laws and cutting short the period of investigation in rape cases.
Speaking here Wednesday over a gang rape in Delhi, Ms. Jayalalithaa said: “It is a shocking crime. There is no doubt that deterrent laws should be put in place and the period of investigation should be shortened so that justice is meted out swiftly.”

I am so sad regarding the rape epidemics in India where is the respect for women in sub continent? I am 53 I am Father of a teenage daughter. Men are becoming animal no regard of how many people they going to hurt physically and mentally.
From the latest news that developed from India, I am of the opinion that not only Delhi
should be titled as the 'Rape Capital', even whole India should be referred to as one. I for
once think that the government should now have done everything within their scope of
power to improve the world's most worst place to be women. I really hope that India would
turn for the better for women and their aspects of life. Even the hideous crimes in India is
changing the outlook on life for women across the globe. Make the country better for
women.
There appears no difference of north and south for rape related crimes due to poor quality law and order in the country. Because of weak IPS officers in asserting their powers and inferior stuff called constabulary, these incidents are taking place unashamedly The governments at the centre and states must change qualitatively if things were to change. Thus the onus falls on people and people alone.
