The President-elect of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena must arrange a referendum in the United Nations to determine the political aspirations of the Eelam Tamils, said T. Velmurugan, founder of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi.
A clear verdict
In a statement released here Mr. Velmurugan said that the Sri Lankan Tamils had given a clear verdict against the rabid racial policy of the outgoing President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Having won the election on the support of the Tamils it was the bounden duty of Mr. Sirisena to work out a reasonable political solution to the ethnic issue.
Mr. Sirisena should not remain content with his victory but should try to bring his predecessor Mr. Rajapaksa before the International Court of Justice for the repulsive war crimes committed during his regime, Mr. Velmurugan said.
