After weeks of confusion, oil companies have finally come out with a single form for consumers opting for the modified Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme.

The Tamil format of the form has also been made available. Those with Aadhar cards have to fill part A and B, take two copies of the filled-up form and submit one copy to the bank, and the other to the distributor. Those without Aadhar cards will have to fill part A and C and you can submit the form either at the LPG distributorship or at the bank. Consumers need to paste copies of Aadhar cards on the form.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, U. V. Mannur, Executive director, Indian Oil Corporation, who appealed to consumers to get into the scheme as soon as possible, said that Chennai city was lagging behind in seeding of their bank accounts for the scheme. More special camps are being organised this weekend to help consumers to join the scheme.

For those who are only getting 16 digits in the place of 17 for their LPG ID, a senior LPG official explained that BPCL consumers must add ‘1’ before the 16 digits, ‘2’ for HPCL and ‘3’ for IOCL. The official also said that gas agencies would not acknowledge receipt of forms collected on behalf of banks.

78 p.c. yet to enrol Despite the January 1 deadline for joining the scheme fast approaching, many consumers in the State are yet to seed their LPG ID with their bank accounts. Only 22.4 per cent of the 1.54 crore consumers have seeded their Aadhar cards.
