Singapore Minister visits Big Temple

The Minister of State for External Affairs of Singapore, Balaji Sadasivan, takes a close look at a sculpture at the Big temple in Thanjavur on Monday.

Balaji Sadasivan, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of Singapore, visited Big Temple at Thanjavur on Monday.

The Minister is on a two-day visit to Thanjavur to see the culturally important places. The purpose of his visit, according to the Minister, is to study the cultural centres of Tamil Nadu with a view to establish a cultural centre at Singapore. “This is a magnificent temple of Chola period. I am happy to be here”, he told presspersons at the temple.

He will visit the Thanjavur Palace, Saraswathi Mahal Library and Tamil University Museum on Tuesday. Later he will leave for Karaikudi en route and from there to Madurai. Mr. Ilangovan, Tourism officer, Thanjavur, accompanied the Minister to the temple.
