‘Silence is the best thing during crisis’

“Silence is the best thing during critical situations,” said Minister for Information Technology M. Manikandan, reacting to the ongoing crisis in the AIADMK.

He quoted former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai as having said silence was the best answer in crisis, when asked whether he, a staunch supporter of T.T.V. Dhinakaran, favoured the demand for ousting Sasikala’s family to protect the party and the government.

The Minister, however, exuded confidence that the party would overcome the present crisis and the government would complete its full term. “We will not only complete the full term but will come back to power after the 2021 elections,” he said, in a brief chat with reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural of the salt refinery here on Thursday.

On the possibility of change of the Chief Minister during the merger of the two factions of the party, he said, “The committee will discuss these issues and announce its decision.” Minister for Industries M.C. Sampath, who was with Mr. Manikandan, refrained from making any comment.
