If the voters in the State really want to find an alternative to the corrupt governance provided by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, they should overwhelmingly support the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam-led alliance in the May 16 Assembly election, DMDK’s women’s wing leader Premalatha Vijayakant has said.
Addressing election campaign meetings at Thisaiyanvilai, Valliyoor, Kalakkad, Nanguneri and Melapalayam on Thursday night, Ms. Premalatha said that the corrupt administration of the DMK and the AIADMK had dented Tamil Nadu’s image and its overall development for the past several decades.
The voters, who were desperately searching for several decades for a transparent administration, had now been provided with the right alternative. The Vijayakant-led alliance, which had unblemished leaders under its fold, would provide an able and corruption-free administration to take Tamil Nadu to unprecedented heights in all spheres.
“If you give us a chance, we’ll bring about a remarkable change in every aspect of administration,” Ms. Premalatha said.
Coming down heavily on the DMK and the AIADMK, she said, “While one of these two parties has reposed faith in engineering splits to weaken rival parties, the other hopes that money would win the battle of ballots in its favour. Such strategies will never save them,” she said.
Ms. Premalatha, during her address at Valliyoor, came down heavily on Radhapuram MLA S. Michael Rayappan, without naming him for having defected to the AIADMK. “He, while citing the reason for leaving the DMDK, said that he met the Chief Minister in a bid to accelerate development works in his segment. But I cannot see better roads and the women are complaining that they are not getting regular supply of drinking water. If an MLA cannot fulfil these two basic amenities to the citizens of his constituency, then what is the point in defecting to the ruling party? It’s nothing but betrayal,” Ms. Premalatha said.
In all her meetings, she gave an outline of the party’s manifesto which assures the voters of 25 lakh employment opportunities in the next five years, doorstep distribution of PDS commodities, linking of rivers, desilting of irrigation tanks, etc.
