Shankar murder case: 15 more witnesses summoned

Principal District and Sessions Judge Alamelu Natarajan has issued summons to 15 more witnesses, in the murder case of Dalit youth Shankar, to be present before the court on July 28.

During the trial held on Tuesday, as many as eight witnesses were examined by U. Sankaranarayanan, Special Public Prosecutor appointed by the government for the case.

Sources said that a total of 121 witnesses were listed in the case.

The remaining being primarily circumstantial witnesses among whom include nodal officers of cellular operators, , judicial officials and forensic experts.

The cross examining of the witnesses by the defence lawyers were yet to commence due to the continuing lawyers’ strike.
