Sexual assault on girl: man gets 10-year RI

Tuticorin Fast Track Mahila Court Judge J. Flora on Wednesday sentenced a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl to undergo 10-year rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, S. Sathish (34) Sivagnanapuram was found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, his neighbour. Sathish, running a chicken shop, had lured the girl by showing his mobile phone.

He took her to a noon meal centre on the promise that he would show her photographs and sexually assaulted her on December 1, 2013. Eppodhum Vendran police had filed a case based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.

The Judge punished him under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.
