The chopped left wrist of a murdered policeman has been recovered from a borewell on the Maavadi – Salaipudur Road.

Dismissed policeman P. Gopal alias Gopalakrishnan of Nadusaalaipudur near Kalakkad was murdered by an armed gang on April 25. The assailants, after murdering him, chopped off his left wrist and took it with them. A hunt was on to trace it.

Some of the assailants, who were nabbed by the police, said they had dumped the severed wrist in a borewell on a farm. After digging a 32-foot deep pit near the borewell, the police recovered the wrist, which has been sent to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for analysis.
