Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman has floated a youth wing named Veera Thamizhar Munnani to promote Tamil culture and tradition and assist pilgrims visiting Palani temple during festival days.

Launching the youth wing in the temple town on Saturday night, he said the members of the wing belonged to ‘Thamizham’ community and Thirukural would be their holy book and Lord Murugan their main God. Tamil scholars were their ancestors. Clad in green dhoti and holding a lance in his hand, he said the front members would supply tender coconut, millet powder (thinai), fruits and butter milk to pilgrims (padayatris) during festival time. Moreover, they will chant Thirukkural in public places and narrate the meaning.

Earlier, the cadres took out a rally from APA Arts College and it ended at Theradi. When the procession, led by Seeman, tried to take diversion to go to the hill temple, the police prevented them stating that prior permission was not obtained for the new route.
