An 800-strong police force is being deployed in the district ahead of the second death anniversary of Ilavarasan on Saturday.

The family of Illavarasan has been allocated an hour to grieve the premature death of their son in Natham Colony.

The district administration had promulgated Section 144 on Wednesday in four taluks of Dharmapuri, Pennagaram, Palacodde and Harur, banning any processions, or assembly marking the ceremony.

Ilavarasan, a 19-year-old youth, became a casualty of caste politics after his marriage to a caste Hindu girl, forcing him to commit suicide in July 2013.

While Illavarasan’s immediate family and people from the area could pay their respects between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m, relatives from outside Natham Colony could pay their respects between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Speaking to The Hindu , Revenue Divisional Officer  Immanual Raj said the family had been asked to follow the directions given by the High Court to prevent any untoward incident.
