Disaster management drill near Kudankulam before month-end

The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project administration, in association with the district administration, has planned to organise the mandatory disaster management mock drill in a hamlet close to the project site before January-end.

Speaking at the 66th Republic Day celebrations held on the Atomic Energy Central School premises in Anu Vijay Township at Chettikulam on Monday, Site Director R.S. Sundar , said the mock drill would be organised with the objective of educating the public living close to the KKNPP site on how to react during emergency .

The second reactor was getting ready for hot-run before mid-February following successful completion of containment leak test and the excavation for the third and the fourth reactors would commence in March or April this year.

Mr. Sundar took the salute from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), TEXCO, fire service personnel of the KKNPP and Atomic Energy Central School children before unfurling the Tricolour.

Ivanisov Ivon, Head of Russian Specialists Group at the KKNPP, H.N. Sahu, Station Director, P.A. Pillai, Chief Construction Engineer, Manish Singh, Commandant, CISF, K. Anbumani, Deputy General Manager (Human Resources), KKNPP, and others participated in the celebrations.
