Salem – Vridhachalam train service

The Salem Railway Division has proposed to introduce an early morning hour passenger train service in the Salem – Vridhachalam section for the benefit of the office-goers, students etc.

Already a passenger train is leaving Salem Junction at 9.50 a.m. There is a need for another train leaving Salem Junction to Vridhachalam in the early morning hours. The Division has submitted a proposal to the headquarters in this regard, Mr. Shubhranshu told presspersons here on Wednesday.

He said that the track doubling work in the Salem Junction – Mettur Dam section is already in progress and there is no fund crunch for the on-going works, he said. The work is expected to be completed within three years.

Replying to a question, Mr. Shubhranshu said that it has been planned to put up mini-shelters during the current year in the Salem Market Railway Station.
