Salem IT office attack: 3 detained under NSA

City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali ordered the detention of three Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) activists under the National Security Act here on Friday for their alleged involvement in the attack on the Income Tax office here on October 30.

P. Krishnan (33), M. Arun kumar (23) and P. Ambikavathi (30) were on Friday arrested by the police in connection with the October 30 attack and sent to judicial custody.

They were lodged at the Salem Central Prison and the detention notice was served to them on Friday. DVK founder-president Kolathur S. Mani was already detained under the National Security Act and is in judicial custody.

So far, four activists in Chennai and four activists in Salem, including its found-president, were detained under the act for attacking Central government offices as a part of their protest to urge the Central government to boycott the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Sri Lanka.
