A senior DMK member and Salem Corporation's 9th ward councillor, P. Ramasamy alias ‘Auto' Manickam (65), was arrested on Tuesday on charges of land grabbing.
He is the chairman of the corporation council's Finance Standing Committee. The Special Land Section of the District Crime Branch of Salem Rural Police received a complaint from Padmavathy of Ammapet stating that 4,365 square feet of land at Allikuttai in Veeranam near here owned by her and two others was “forcefully” occupied by Manickam and his men.
