Members of the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Department Officials Association staged a rally here on Wednesday demanding the immediate arrest of department Executive Engineer Senthil Kumar for pushing Overseer R. Muthukrishnan to suicide.

The rally started at the New Railway Station and wound its way to the Municipality Office, District president of the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Department Officials Association S. Tamilselvan led the rally in which the State general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association S. Balasubramanian participated.

Meanwhile, Mr. Senthil Kumar is still at large and the police have formed special teams to track him down. A team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Anbalagan is on the look out for the officer who is believed to be moving the Madras High Court for advance bail.

Sources in the administration indicate that the State government might even suspend Mr. Senthil Kumar if he stayed underground for a prolonged period. Unable to “withstand heavy work pressure and mental torture'” allegedly by Senthil Kumar, Muthukrishnan doused himself with petrol and set himself ablaze here on May 2.

TIRUCHI: Officials in Tiruchi staged an agitation in front of the Collectorate. They raised slogans, demanding the State government to arrest the Executive Engineer based on dying statement of Muthukrishnan.
