Pattali Makkal Katchi leader and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday accused the ruling party of foisting cases on him through election officials in Dharmapuri.

In a statement, Dr. Anbumani denied that he and his party functionary had circulated CDs containing material to incite people on caste lines. “The case smacks of political vendetta. It has been filed without any basis,” he said. “As my prospects are bright in the constituency, the ruling party wants to disturb my campaign,” he said.

Dr. Anbumani said he was not aware of any CDs that were said to be in circulation. “There is no need for me to incite communal feelings when I have the support of all sections of people,” he said.

He apprehended that with only 25 days left for polling, the ruling party could raise similar issues.

He urged the Election Commission to intervene and take action against police officials who had “foisted” a case against him and his party functionaries.
