Rs.1.20 crore in cash seized

‘Unaccounted money' to the tune of Rs.1.20 crore was seized during surprise checks at two check-posts near Palayamkottai on Saturday.

When the police intercepted a car at Munneerpallam check-post, they found Rs.1.10 crore, meant for ATM centres.

Another check conducted in a car, carrying beedi manufacturing company personnel, yielded Rs.5.50 lakh meant for disbursal of salary to beedi rollers.

In the surprise check conducted at Thaazhayiyooththu check-post, the police seized Rs.5 lakh from Chelladurai of Pallikottai, who claimed that he was on his way to buy gold ornaments for his daughter.
