Rs.1000 crore for 1 lakh houses

The State government on Saturday said it had allocated Rs. 1,000 crore for the construction of one lakh concrete houses for the people affected by cyclone Thane in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts. According to an official press release, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa sanctioned the allocation for the project, under which 90,000 houses would be constructed in Cuddalore and 10,000 houses in Villupuram.

The release also said each house, measuring 200 sq ft, would cost Rs. 1 lakh.
