Rs. 98 lakh relief awarded at Lok Adalat

To the wife, two children and parents of a victim who died in a car accident in 2011

The highest compensation of Rs. 98 lakh was awarded to the kin of an accident victim at the Lok Adalat conducted by the Vellore District Legal Services Authority at the Combined Court Buildings here on Friday.

R.V.R. Deenadayalan, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Vellore, presided over the Lok Adalat.

Hemalatha Daniel, Lok Adalat Judge, took up 29 cases, of which seven cases including six motor accident claims cases were settled for a total amount of Rs. 1,20,57,105.

Disposing of one motor accidents claim case of the family members of Yuvaraj (33) of Chennai Ms. Hemalatha awarded Rs. 98 lakh to his wife, two children and parents of the deceased. Yuvaraj died in a car accident on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway in Vellore district in 2011.

The Judge directed Royal Sundaram Insurance Company to pay the amount to the family members.
