Roads leading to Kerala to be closed on poll day

All roads leading to Kerala from Theni district would remain closed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 13, the polling day, said Collector A. Karthik.

Addressing an election meeting here on Saturday, he said that Bodi Mettu Road, Cumbum Mettu Road and Kumuli Mettu Road on theTamil Nadu-Kerala border would be closed. Nobody would be allowed to enter Tamil Nadu from Kerala. Only vehicles with essential commodities would be allowed to cross the border. Outsiders would not be allowed to stay in the district between 5 p.m. on April 11 and till the completion of poll exercise on April 13, he added.

Preparation of 100 per cent photo electoral rolls having been successful in the district, voters should produce either Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or voter slip issued by the government .No other documents would be accepted for casting votes. Voter slips were being given to all voters in the district.

Complaint cell

Action would be initiated against those who bribed voters for votes, and also those who received money for casting votes. If there were any such complaints, people could contact the control room on telephone number 04546 250212 or toll-free number 1800 4257028 for immediate action.
