The State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) has established an online facility to share the documents pertaining to road accident cases with the motor accident claims tribunals and insurance companies.

In a case, the Madras High Court last January directed the police department to submit detailed accident report (DAR) for all road accident cases before the respective claims tribunals and also to share the same with insurance companies, victims and accused.

In compliance with the said order of the court, the SCRB has developed an online facility on the police website ( http://tnpolice.gov.in/CCTNSNICSDC/ ) to share the documents pertaining to the cases. The objective is to help accident victims settle their claims quickly.

The facility has been enabled for all the tribunals with effect from March 29. In this regard, a training program for all judicial officers is being imparted in Chennai and Puduchery in the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy.

The State Government has issued orders to extend the services to insurance companies. The insurance companies may avail the service by paying a fee of ₹100 per document.

All police stations have commenced the uploading of road accident documents in CCTNS(Crime and Criminal Networking System) from March 1.

The following documents for road accident cases registered and charge-sheeted with effect from 01.03.2017 will be made available for sharing: The First Information Report (FIR), vehicle registration certificate, driving license, insurance certificate, commercial fitness certificate and permit, rough sketch, observation mahazar, motor vehicle inspector’s report, post-mortem report, accident register copy, wound certificate and final report.

This facility will be made available for the victim and accused in the case before June 30, an official press release said.
