It was curtains down on VIT’s international cultural and sports festival – Riviera 2018 – on Sunday. Film actor Rana Daggubati of Baahubali fame was the chief guest.
In the end of the four-day festival, the overall trophy for sports was bagged by VIT followed by Loyola College. SASTRA University, Thanjavur, bagged the overall trophy for cultural events followed by Christ University, Bengaluru.
29,000 participants
VIT’s Chancellor G. Viswanathan said that “Riviera 2018” had over 29,000 participants. Prizes worth ₹20 lakh were distributed. Students from 29 nations took part in the festival, according to a release.
Eshita Singh, student organiser of “Riviera 2018,” said the festival hosted a total of 128 events, of which 50% were new ones. The focus this year was on fun events such as RC Racing and ‘Gallympics.’ Events related to all types of art such as dance, music, drama, photography and cinematography were held.
Mr. Daggubati interacted with students and answered their questions. He told the students that if it were possible, he would love to go back to his school days, the release added. VIT vice-president G.V. Selvam was present.
