Demanding house site pattas, several residents of Rajiv Nagar and Bagyalakshmi Nagar of ward 3 under Thoothukudi Corporation limits staged a dharna near Chidambara Nagar bus stop along Palayamkotai Road here on Wednesday.
Edwin, president, Struggle Committee, who took part, said there were 320 houses in these localities and tax for housing, drinking water and electricity was being paid for about 20 years. Despite representing the need for such pattas, the district administration had ignored our demands. If the authorities continued to ignore our demand, these residents would boycott the coming local body elections, he said.
