January 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - CUDDALORE:

The residents of the Keezhamoongiladi village blocked road traffic on the Chidambaram bypass road, voicing their protest against the abrupt stoppage of the works on the construction of a community centre there on Friday.

The residents stated that the officials of the Bhuvanagiri Panchayat Union had ordered the foundation laying for the building. Even while trenches were being drug for the purpose the works was called off without assigning any reason.

They urged the authorities to complete the building and soon bring it into use for the benefit of the residents. On information the officials along with police personnel went to the spot and pacified them.
