A five-member team appointed by National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare Providers (NABH), which is carrying out the final assessment of infrastructure and quality parameters at the District Headquarters Hospital here, will submit the report on Sunday.
Team
Colonel (Dr.) Shikha Venugopal, principal assessor of the NABH team, told The Hindu that the team was reviewing whether the hospital had been complying with the standards stipulated by the Quality Council of India (QCI) under which the NABH comes, to procure accreditation certificate.
“We are checking select parameters meant for this grade of hospital among the 600-odd stipulations set by the QCI for accreditation for hospitals in general which include among others general infrastructure, patient care levels, infection control mechanisms, medical records, human resources, quality management and inter-personal relationsh*ips of hospital staff with patients,” she said.
Apart from Dr. Shikha Venugopal, who is from Andhra Pradesh, the other assessors were Dr. Abhijit Paul from Kolkata; Dr. Jigish Shah from Baroda; Martha Thirumal Reddy, principal of a nursing college in Bangalore; and Dr. Gujju Raja Sekhar from Pune.
Criteria
Dr. Venugopal clarified that the assessment team would be only evaluating whether the hospital had satisfied the criteria fixed under various segments, but would not make any observations per se in the review report.
