Director General of Police (DGP) T.K. Rajendran on Saturday said that the investigation report on the suicide of MBBS aspirant S. Anitha will be submitted to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) soon.
Speaking to reporters here on the sidelines of a grievance meet of police personnel, he said that the NCSC had asked for a probe report into the death of Anitha, and the Ariyalur police was on the job. The report would be sent to the NCSC soon. It would include all the details that have been sought from the police.
Mr. Rajendran parried a question on whether there was a need for revisiting the case in view of doubts raised on the alleged suicide of Anitha.
Redressal meetings
When his attention was drawn to the “insufficient police strength” in the State, Mr. Rajendran said that priority was being accorded to provide the sanctioned strength. The process of recruitment of police constables has reached an advanced stage and the results of about 13,300 candidates have been published. Verification of certificates and other details furnished by the candidates and medical tests were on. The process would be over within two months. The ongoing recruitment drive would fill up most of sanctioned posts. The process of next recruitment drive would begin soon.
He said he had already held a grievance redressal meet for police personnel in Madurai for South Zone and received about 1,500 representations. Action was being taken on the petitions. He would hold such meetings in West and North zones and Chennai city soon.
