Tiruchengode Revenue Divisional Officer R. Keerthi Priyadarshini has asked the land owners in Pallipalayam and Kumarapalayam to remove unauthorised dyeing units functioning in their land within a week or face action.
A meeting with the land owners who had provided their premises for these units was held at in Tiruchengodu here on Thursday that was attended by Kumarapalayam Tahsildar Ragunathan.
About 30 land owners from Pudupalayam, Kaliyanoor, Kodamangalam, Agraharam, Pallipalayam and other villagers participated.
She told them that survey was conducted to identify the unauthorised dyeing units functioning in eight revenue villages in the area.
The effluents discharged from these units without processing is affecting the ground water level and is also causing pollution.
The land owners had also allowed these unauthorised dyeing units to function, she added. The RDO asked the land owners to remove the unauthorised dyeing units within a week failing which they would be served a notice. If the reply was found unsatisfactory, case would be registered against them for which they will be getting imprisonment up to six months besides fine of ₹ 1,000.
