: Minister for Information and Special Schemes Implementation K.T. Rajendra Balaji on Wednesday said the remaining 95 lakh family card- holders will get freebies such as fans, mixer and grinders.
Mr. Rajendra Balaji earlier reviewed availability of freebies in every district, the requirement, service centres, facilities for loading the stock and arrangements for speedy distribution. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced that 1.85 crore family card- holders under the Public Distribution System with rice as eligibility would get freebies.
As many as 25 lakh card- holders were benefitted in 2011-12, 35 lakh card- holders in 2012-13. For the year 2013-14, the Chief Minister had fixed a target of distributing freebies to 35 lakh card- holders and till date the same had been distributed to 29.94 lakh. In the last three years, 89.94 lakh people were benefitted. Arrangements are on for distributing freebies to the remaining 95.05 lakh card -holders.
