The relatives of a 17-year-old girl student, who allegedly committed suicide at Eriyode, refused to receive the body from the Government Hospital here on Sunday demanding action against persons who reportedly teased her.

According to sources, the student had committed suicide by setting herself on fire at her residence after a group of youth teased her on Saturday.

Later, she succumbed to her injuries at Dindigul GH on Sunday.

The parents alleged that Balamurugan, with the support of his two friends, had teased her while she was fetching water from a public tap. Humiliation and abuse caused by them forced her to end her life, her relatives alleged.

Even after a formal complaint, the police did not take any action against those persons, the said.
