Bulls race (rekla) scheduled to be held at two coastal villages this week were cancelled following the Supreme Court’s ban.

The rekla at Sri Subramanyaswamy temple at Gandhi Nagar in Kattumavadi was scheduled for Wednesday as part of Chithra Pournami festival.

Another similar ritual was scheduled at the Sri Ezhumuka Kaliamman temple at Egaperumagalur village near Manamelkudi on Thursday.

The organisers had set up banners and hoardings furnishing the details about the rekla. Police personnel from Manmelkudi police station visited these villages on Tuesday and explained to them about the Supreme Court’s ban.

Complying with the ban, the villagers agreed not to organise the rekla race.
