G. Radhakrishnan, president of the State unit of the Shiv Sena, has moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Chennai city police to register a First Information Report against DMK leader Kanimozhi, lyricist Vairamuthu and Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus through their speeches.

Justice M.S. Ramesh on Thursday directed a government advocate to get instructions from the inspector of Pulianthope police station here and adjourned the hearing by a week. The petitioner had alleged that it all began with the lyricist penning an article for a Tamil daily making unwarranted remarks against saint poet Andal, worshipped as a Goddess. Thereafter, Ms. Kanimozhi as well as Mr. Veeramani came to the defence of the lyricist and they too hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, he alleged. Stating that a complaint was lodged with the police as early as January 16, he alleged that an FIR was yet to be registered though a Community Service Register number was issued immediately.
