Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss on Monday reiterated his call for revoking the government's decision to recruit doctors on contract basis for the proposed multi super-specialty hospital in Chennai and called adherence to the reservation process in hiring the doctors.
In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss termed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's justification for the non-application of the rule as unacceptable. He said that in compliance with the Supreme Court's order last July last, the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) commenced recruitment assistant professors and professors following the reservation norms.
On the norm governing employment of doctors in Tamil Nadu on contract basis, Dr. Ramadoss said the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Recruitment Board, in March 2012, released a list of 2,213 medical officials complying with the rule.
