The Special Court trying the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday decided to resume recording of the statement of V.K. Sasikala, an accused, from October 30.
Meanwhile, the court allowed inspection of unmarked and un-exhibited documents for 21 days from October 8. The Supreme Court had permitted inspection of documents for the benefit of Ms. Sasikala and two other accused, V.N. Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi.
Somaraju, judge of a Special Court for CBI cases, who is now holding the concurrent charge of the Special Court trying the assets case, passed the orders after counsel for the accused produced certified copies of the Supreme Court order.
The court said the inspection would be done by two advocates on behalf of Ms. Sasikala. The court also permitted them to take the assistance of their auditor during the inspection but the auditors cannot inspect the documents. The court, however, rejected the plea to exclude government holidays from the 21 days given for inspection of documents.
