“The one held on Saturday was to highlight misuse of PCR Act”

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss asserted here on Saturday that no political party or organisation could oppose him as his meetings across the State were within the Constitutional rights available to any citizen.

Addressing mediapersons after taking part in a meeting, he said the meeting was held to highlight the “misuse” of the Protection of Civil Rights (PCR) Act and take up the case of Caste Hindu girls who were allegedly cheated in the name of love marriage.

Alluding to the demand to ban his entry to various districts, Dr. Ramadoss said the Anaithu Samuthaya Periyakkam (movement for all communities), being led by him, was not opposed to Dalit organisations or political parties but it was against those who were “misguiding” the Dalit youth into marrying caste Hindu girls for wealth, he said. Tension prevailed for a while near the meeting venue when a few youngsters from a Dalit organisation waved black flags to condemn Dr. Ramadoss and a group of persons inside the venue tried to chase them away . Police pacified them and removed the demonstrators.
