Ramadoss slams Tamil FM channels

PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Tuesday charged that Hindi was being imposed through Tamil FM channels.

In a statement, he said that the percentage of Hindi content in Tamil FM channels had considerably increased. “At the same time, Tamil programmes are systematically being reduced. It is condemnable,” Dr. Ramadoss said. The programme, ‘Sandesh to Soldiers,’ broadcast on AIR’s Tamil FM rainbow, is about sending greetings to those in the armed forces. It is fully broadcast in Hindi.

‘Hindi is being imposed’

“While such programmes are necessary to inculcate patriotism, what is the reason to broadcast the programme only in Hindi? If the programme is produced in Tamil, it would be much sweeter. Even Tamil people will understand the sacrifices made by those in armed forces,” he said.

Dr. Ramadoss added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches in Hindi are being broadcast every now and then without any announcement. “It is said that these are needed to instil patriotism. In reality, these programmes are used to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu,” the PMK leader said.
