Ramachandra Adityan memorial inaugurated

A newly built memorial for B. Ramachandra Adityan, father of Kannan Adityan, Director, Malai Murasu , was inaugurated at his native place Kayamozhi near Tiruchendur in the district on Sunday.

It was inaugurated by S. Balasubramania Adityan, Director, Daily Thanthi , in the presence of Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan, Tamil Nadu Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Agriculture R. Vaithilingam, MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Tenkasi MLA R. Sarath Kumar.

Statue

unveiled

Subsequently, a statue of Si.Pa. Aditanar, founder of Daily Thanthi , was unveiled and a marriage hall inaugurated at the same location.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said Daily Thanthi was an exemplary identity in Tamil print media and it brought pride to the Tamils living all over the world.

Ramchandra Adityan fought for the retrieval of rights of Nadars in Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, he said. Mr. Vaithilingam, who inaugurated the marriage hall, said he was a representative of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for this programme.

Mr. Vaiko unveiled the statue of Si.Pa. Aditanar.

Postal cover

A special postal cover of Ramachandra Adityan was released by J. Charukesi, Post Master General, South Zone, Madurai, and Mr. Sarath Kumar received the first cover.

Mr. Kannan Adityan welcomed the dignitaries.
