On Tuesday, DMK MLAs, including party leader M.K. Stalin, were evicted from the Assembly after they shouted slogans against the Ram Rajya Rath Yatra in the State.

Speaker P. Dhanapal expunged Mr. Stalin’s speech. The Opposition MLAs, including Congress legislators who staged a walkout, blocked the road outside the Secretariat and courted arrest. Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami defended the decision to allow the yatra, saying it was the government’s duty to protect the democratic rights of all.
