Rally against drug abuse

Students of N.S.V.V. Higher Secondary School, in association with Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) police, formed a human chain, took out a rally, and conducted an awareness campaign as part of International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking at Athoor near here on Sunday.

Flagged off by Excise Assistant Commissioner D.B. Ilango, the rally started and ended at the village after passing through neighbouring villages. The participants held placards and signboards in their hands to create an awareness of drug abuse and its ill effects. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions held in this connection.

NIB Inspector K. Muthumani, who made the arrangements, said that ‘Think Health and Not Drugs' was the slogan for this year. Drug abuse had been posing a stiff heath challenge. It led to spread of HIV, he said.
