Describing the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, as a strong leader and an able administrator, actor Rajinikanth on Sunday wished him success in the future.

Talking to reporters along with Mr. Modi, who called on him at his Poes Garden residence here, Mr. Rajinikanth said there was nothing political about their meeting.

“When I was not well he called on me and every week he inquired about my health. I invited him for a meeting over a cup of tea and I am happy he has visited me,” he said.

“Everyone knows that Mr. Modi is a strong leader and an able administrator. Whatever he wants to achieve, I wish him success,” he said.

The Gujarat Chief Minister said Mr. Rajinikanth was a good friend and a well-wisher. He also greeted the people of Tamil Nadu on the occasion of Tamil New Year day.

People should vote based on who is the best for their needs not because a party
leader meets an actor. Fans mistake such meetings as tacit endorsement of the party
and the leader, which may not be the case.
