Actor Rajinikanth left for the Himalayas on Saturday and said that he would be there for a minimum of 15 days.

Speaking to mediapersons at the airport, the actor denied that important announcements concerning his political party would be made once he came back.

While the actor announced his decision to start a political party on December 31 last year, he has addressed only one public event after that – a function to mark the unveiling of the MGR statue at the ACS Medical College and Hospital.

On Saturday, Mr. Rajinikanth refused to comment about the recent cases of violence against women in the State.

On Friday, M. Aswini, a college student, was murdered in broad daylight in Chennai, and a few days ago, Usha, a pregnant woman who was riding pillion with her husband, fell down and died after a traffic policeman chased and intercepted their vehicle in Tiruchi.

Annual trip

For many years now, the actor has been making annual trips to the Himalayas and has said that they are a part of his continuing spiritual journey.

While the post-production work for his movie 2.0 directed by Shankar, is being completed, Kaala directed by Pa. Ranjith, is all set for release on April 27.
