Rajinikanth has to take a call: Ganesan

Taking a plunge into politics is the prerogative of Rajinikanth and it will be entirely his decision, said Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader L. Ganesan, here on Saturday.

Asked about the actor’s comment that there was systemic decay in the Tamil Nadu, Mr. Ganesan said if Mr. Rajinikanth spoke once, then it was akin to repeating it a hundred times. He has a lot of followers and fans and it was up to him to decide on his future political plans, the BJP leader said.

Claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had delivered the goods to the people, Mr. Ganesan said remaining non-corrupt and ensuring that Ministers around him were also clean was a singular achievement amongst a long list of contributions of the Modi regime.

The State BJP unit was planning to take the success stories of the NDA government at the Centre to the nook and corner of Tamil Nadu for better appreciation by the people, he said.

Stressing that the Modi regime did not differentiate between offenders, Mr. Ganesan said those accused of violations could challenge the charges in the court of law to prove their innocence. The CBI and the Income Tax Department were functioning independently without any political interference, he said.

The national river linking plan was mooted during the Vajpayee rule itself and the Modi government was implementing a lot of welfare schemes for farmers and the needy, he said.
