Various awards instituted by Rajasthani Kala Kendra, Tamil Nadu, were given away by Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh on Sunday.
The three awards — Rajasthan Shiromani, Rajasthan Vibushan and Rajasthan Gaurav — were conferred on 10 Rajasthanis who have made contribution in the field of social service, education, medical, literature, industry and politics.
Addressing a function here, Dr. Singh said Rajasthanis had contributed immensely to Chennai’s socio-economic and educational development.
Tamil Nadu Fisheries Ministries Minister K.P.P. Samy recalled how people from Rajasthan rose to the occasion and helped tsunami victims.
DMK MP T.K.S. Elangaovan and Tamil Nadu Minority Commission member Pyarelal Pitalaya participated in the meeting.
