Rains continued to play spoilsport in two famous tourist hill stations in Tamil Nadu as landslips forced cancellation of the Mettupalayam-Coonoor mountain train and closure of the Palani-Kodaikanal Ghat road today.

The Nilgiris Mountain Rail train, a star attraction for tourists, was cancelled following landslips at three places between Mettupalayam and Coonoor caused by heavy rains in Nilgiris District, official sources said in coimbatore.

A report from Dindigul said the Palani-Kodaikanal was closed for the second time this month due to breaches caused by landslips near Saverikadu following overnight rains.

Police said efforts were on to reopen the road for traffic in a couple of days. However, continuing heavy rains in the hills could hamper restoration work, locals said.

The road was shut for three days in the first week of this month following a major landslip.
